Annika Sorenstam had run away with this event in 2005. In 2006, rookie Seon Hwa Lee had already amassed three second place finishes in her first seven starts, but had not been able to win. She got out to a great start with a 65 at the ShopRite. With nine holes to go on Sunday, however, she, Sherri Steinhauer, Jeong Jang and Sorenstam were all in the mix. Lee then turned on the jets, making birdies on 11, 12, 13, 17 and 18 to win the event going away. Her final round 63 was the best of her young career.
