The Scoop: Coming into this event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in May, the Koreans had yet to win a single event on the LPGA tour in 2007. After two rounds, several unknown golfers were tied for the lead, with Kimmie a shot back. But all the leaders faltered in the final round, while Juli Inkster charged from behind to card a 3 under par total. Coming into the final hole, Kim just needed a par to claim the trophy, but she missed a short par save, and went to a playoff with Hall of Famer Inkster. On the first playoff hole, Inkster overshot the green, and left herself with a par putt of the same length as Kimmie had missed in regulation. Inkster missed it, Kim made hers, and she claimed her eighth career win on tour. After the event, Kim made a magnificent gesture: she donated $100,000, or nearly half her prize money, to help the victims of the recent tornado that had wiped out Greensburg, Kansas. |
