The Scoop: It had been nearly four years since Mi Hyun Kim last won an event on the LPGA tour. The Ginn Clubs did not seem like a promising place for her to end that streak. Almost all the top women golfers in the world were there, and the course was playing very tough. But after two rounds she had surged to the front of the leaderboard. In the third round, she held off the Japanese rookie Ai Miyazato, and wound up with a three shot lead going into Sunday. But almost instantly she was severely challenged by Lorena Ochoa, who wiped out Kimmie's five shot lead on her in just seven holes. Peanut recovered, making back to back birdies at the turn, then held off both Ochoa and Karrie Webb for the remainder of the round. The highlight of her round was a smoking 280 yard drive she hit on the par 5 17th hole. At long last, the slump was over, and Mi Hyun Kim was back in the winner's circle. |
