The Scoop: The Korean most associated with the Jamie Farr Classic is Se Ri Pak, who has won the event an incredible four times, and is rarely out of contention. She certainly was in contention in 2006, but Se Ri was not quite able to get it done in the final round, and finished fourth. After three rounds, Se Ri was one shot behind Natalie Gulbis and Kimmie, who were tied at 12 under. But Gulbis started the final round on fire, making five consecutive birdies to go out in 29. She got to a four shot lead, but then Kimmie started to reel her in. She caught her on the 17th hole, and after both parred the par 5 18th, there was a playoff. They both parred the first two playoff holes as well. On the third playoff hole, again the course's 18th hole, Kimmie drained a 25 foot birdie to put the pressure on the American. Gulbis was unable to answer, and Mi Hyun had her second win of the 2006 season. |
