2008 was her breakout year on the Futures.
Still only 18, one of the youngest girls on tour, she started
her year with top tens in two of her first three events. But
it was at the Mercedes Championship in Kansas in mid-May that
Mindy broke through with her first win. She followed that
up with another victory at the following event, the Aurora
Health Care Championship.
From that point on, Kim rarely finished outside
of the top ten. In August, she collected a third win in Kentucky,
pretty much sealing her tour card for the LPGA in 2009. In
the end, she finished second on the money list with $79,270,
a total that would have led the money list almost any other
year, but was still behind Korean American star Vicky Hurst
in 2008.
Mindy's rookie year on the LPGA wasn't that
great, although she did finish well enough on the money list
(92nd) to maintain reasonable status on tour. She had only
a single top ten, qualified for only one Major, and made less
than $100,000.
She had roughly the same kind of season in
2010, making slightly less money but finishing slightly higher
on the money list. Her status remained category 11 for the
2011 season.
2011 was a bit of a breakthrough season for
Kim. She notched four top tens during the year, including
a tie for 5th at the State Farm Classic. She also shot her
career best round at that tournament, a 64. In all, she made
over $250,000 during 2011, finishing in the top 40 on the
money list for the first time, and earned top status for 2012.
Mindy had a weaker 2012 than 2011. She only
had one top ten, a tie for 10th at the RR Donnelly early in
the year. She did manage a second 64, tying her career best
score, at the Manulife. In the end, she finished with a little
more than $100,000 in earnings, holding on to top status with
a 77th place finish on the money list.
Mindy did not have a strong 2013 season. The
highlight of that year was her best ever LPGA finish, a tie
for 4th in the Bahamas. But it was her only top ten of the
year. She also missed the cut in all five Majors and wound
up with only $67,370 in earnings. She finished 94th on the
money list and slipped to category 11 status for 2014.
2014 was an even worse year for Mindy. She
only made two cuts all year and earned just a little over
$7K. Minday played exclusively on the Symetra Tour in 2015,
but only finished 51st on their money list.
In 2016, Mindy only played four times on the
LPGA and missed all four cuts. She played more often on the
Symetra Tour, but her best finishes there were a pair of fifth
places. She only finished 46th on the money list there.
Mindy played a few events on the LPGA in 2017,
but only made one cut. She remained with category 21 status
for 2018. She has not played at all since 2017, but has moved
to category 19 status thanks to a new category system. She
has in all likelihood retired.
