Grace and Se Ri nominated for ESPY awards
Every year for the past 12 years, ESPN, the premiere sports network in the US, has presented a gala award show called the ESPYs. Athletes from all majors sports are nominated as the best of their respective sport, and the winner, as voted by the fans, gets a prize at a star studded gala presented on ESPN. This year, there are four women (well, three women and a girl) nominated for the coveted award of Best Female Golfer, and what's most impressive is, three of those gals are Seoul Sisters profiled right here on this site! The four nominees are Se Ri Pak, Grace Park, Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam. Sorenstam has already won the award in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2002 and 2003. The other three have never won, although Se Ri has been nominated the past few years. I believe this is the first ever nomination for Grace and Wie.

The best news is, you fans of the Seoul Sisters can VOTE for who you want to see win the ESPY. Voting closes on July 8th, and the broadcast is live on ESPN Sunday, July 19th, at 9 PM ET. If we all get together, maybe we can knock off Queen Annika! Now, I expect that Annika, who once again was brilliant in 2003, will get a ton of votes, and Michelle will have a lot of support as well, but what about the other two? Have they done anything award-worthy?

Well, Grace Park managed 19 top 10s in 2003, finished 3rd on the money list, led the league in birdies, and very nearly won the Vare Trophy. At the end of the season she had ten straight top tens, and started this year with three more, including a win at her first Major. Very impressive stuff from this superstar!

Meanwhile, Se Ri had 13 top tens in her last 14 events of 2003, achieved 20 top 10s, got into the Hall of Fame earlier this year, and managed to become the only woman so far to not only make the cut in a men's event, but finish in the top ten!

Naree Song

Jimin Kang slips to second on the Futures Tour money list
In recent action on the Futures Tour, Australian Lindsay Wright has played well enough to overtake Jimin Kang on the top of the money list. However, the top 5 is still dominated by Koreans, with Jimin second, Aram Cho third, and 18 year old sensation Seon Hwa Lee 5th. In addition, another 18 year old, Naree Song, who is also the twin sister of LPGA rookie star Aree Song, is 6th, and Sung Ah Yim is 7th. It's looking good that we'll be seeing several Korean players earn their LPGA tour cards by year's end.

Check out Se Ri's wheels!
A recent article over in Korea talked about some of the nice cars that big Korean celebrities own. Included in the article was this fab picture of Se Ri with her BMW X5. The article also mentioned that Mi Hyun Kim owns a BMW Z3, which is a small, sporty car for a small, sporty gal. This must be in addition to the nice Hyundai sports car we showed Mi Hyun modeling next to in an earlier issue of this magazine (click here to see that picture!)

I just hope Se Ri is careful with that golf club when standing next to her fancy set of wheels!

Check out the article here (if you can read Korean, that is!!)

Money List
This week's big mover is Mi Hyun Kim, coming off a second and fourth place finish in her last two events. This moved her ahead of Se Ri Pak into 5th place on the money list, and only a few thousand behind Lorena Ochoa in 4th. Grace Park, meanwhile, was forced to drop out last week, and skipped the week before, and hence made no money, and Se Ri had a rather pedestrian finish in her one appearance, so gained very little. Jung Yeon Lee, meanwhile, has not played in a while (is she injured?), and has thus slipped down to 19th on the money list, her lowest position all season. And Jeong Jang continues her good play, moving up to 17th on the money list from 25th.
