Moon and Kim 2nd and 3rd at Futures Tour Event
The Indiana Futures Tour Golf Classic was played May 22 - 24, 2003. After
two rounds, Ju Kim of Seoul was only one shot out of the lead, and Soo
Young Moon, who has already won on the Futures Tour this year, was a few
back. By the end of the final round, however, both Ju Kim and Soo Young
Moon were tied for the lead. Unfortunately, Kim bogeyed the very last
hole and slipped to third. An American player, Reilly Rankin, also finished
tied for the lead, and she and Moon went into a sudden death playoff.
After both tying on the 18th hole with par, they played again. Soo Young
left her approach well short of the hole, and her birdie putt was still
8 feet short. Alas, her par lipped out and Rankin won, but the second
place finish was enough to move Soo Young back to the top of the year
to date money list. Ju Kim sits in fifth. The top five players at season's
end get LPGA exempt tour cards.

More Futures Tour: Kim loses in Playoff
Ju Kim followed up her third place finish with another strong event at
the Aurora Healthcare Futures Charity Golf Classic, played from May 30
to Jun 1st in Sussex, Wisconsin. Kim was consistent all tournament, with
scores of 70 all three days. In the third round, she had built up a three
shot lead with six to play, but she made a few mistakes with her short
game coming in, including a missed two footer for par at 13 that cut her
lead to one, and another bogey at 14. She then birdied 15 to retake the
lead, and bogeyed 16 to fall back into a tie. Then on 17, both she and
Australian Catherine Hull struck good approach shots, but both birdied
to remain tied. In the playoff, Kim hit her drive into a bunker but still
got to the green in two and saved par. However, on the second playoff
hole, Hull made birdie and Kim missed birdie from 12 feet.
Nonetheless, this moves Ju Kim to the top of the Futures Tour Money list!
Congratulations to her!

Money List
Se Ri Pak took the last two weeks off from LPGA competition. This allowed
Annika Sorenstam to retake the money list lead with a win at the Kellogg's
Keebler Classic. Meanwhile, Grace has fallen to 4th on the list, as Patricia
Meunier-Lebouc edged ahead of her. Grace had a great chance to make that
back at the Keebler when Meunier-Lebouc missed the cut, but unfortunately
Grace did also. The big gainer is Mi Hyun Kim, who moves up to 12th following
her third place finish in Chicago.

Se Ri asked to play men's events
It seems like everyone on the LPGA tour is getting asked to play in men's
events these days. Se Ri Pak is no exception. Apparently she was asked
to play in the PGA tour's BC Open. The event is traditionally starved
for attention because it is played opposite the British Open. However,
it does not fall at a good place on the schedule for her and she took
a pass. She also apparently passed up an invitation to play a Korean PGA
event later this year.
Another rumor has her possibly playing in a men's event with a special
'matchup' with PGA star KJ Choi. If she beats his scores, she gets added
incentives. Again, this is all still up in the air, but Se Ri has said
she would do it if they pay her well and it fits her schedule, and the
organizers say they will meet any price she asks. Stay tuned!
